An AMAZING two months for the teams!

July 6, 2015

The last two months have been absolutely breathtaking for several of the teams here at Carl Cox Motorsport- from the consistantly brilliant performances of the UK P&H Motorcycles Ducati Tri-Options Cup Panigales ridden by Leon Morris and Dennis Hobbs, through to a simply incredible result with the Kiwi sidecar duo of Rider Colin Buckley and Passenger Robbie Shorter in Carl's inaugral ISLE OF MAN TT campaign, and FIM Formula 1 Sidecar championship!

With an initial start number of 41 allocated to the sidecar lads at the beginning of this year TT races, and even with major interruptions to scheduled practice days due to random bad weather, the team quickly showed its potential on the K7 Suzuki powered BLR chassis by qualifying in 24th position after just 4 full practice laps- this was adjusted to a final start number of 22!

Race one saw a finish in 16th place overall and bronze replica trophies with a best lap of over 105 MPH- not only was it an incredible feeling to see the bike come across the line for the first time, but it was also exciting being on the start line with such an amazing support crew consisting of our founder,Carl Cox, along with the flying Kiwi-Bruce Anstey, Charley Boorman of "Long way round" fame and Ex GP star Steve Parish :)

Race two only got better! The level of competition and the speeds reached at this years TT were much higher across all the classes, with lap records and outright speeds been smashed each time the bikes were on the circuit- and the Sure Sidecar races were no exception with the top runners lapping at 116+ Miles an Hour. Colin and robbie pulled out all the stops to achieve a stunning result of 11th overall, a further two bronze replica trophies and an impecable run of 108.7 MPH, and also means the pair are the quickest sidecar team from New Zealand to have ever run a sidecar on the Mountain Course !

Directly after the TT we hit the road for Europe to drive over 3,500 miles with the Formula 1 Sidecar to enter 2 rounds of the FIM World championship, and with limited track knowledge and against much newer machinery the team managed a further 2 great results of 8th at Rijeka in Croatia, and 9th in wet conditions at the Panonia-ring circuit in Hungary before arriving back in NZ yesterday.

The sidecar team arrived home just in time to hear of another brillant result from the Leon,Dennis, and the P&H crew at the KnockHill round of the Tri-Options Cup with a 1st from Leon /2nd for Dennis in Saturdays race 1, and a 2nd for Dennis Hobbs with Leon Morris in 3rd for Sundays race 2- the boys are on fire and the whole team has been working hard to get the machinery working the best possible for the guys, and it's def working....

What's up next you may ask? Stay tuned, there's a few things in the wind! Don't forget to follow our facebook page for "on the spot"updates for all the teams movements as they happen :)

Coxy, Gav, and all the top crew that have helped make the moments we'll never forget over the last few months!!
