And it's begun in style with last weekends Barry Sheene Classic at Hampton Downs international circuit- after a rush to complete a few changes to the Carl Cox Motorsport F1 Sidecar in time for the trans-Tasman event we were happy to have the bike back together and running in time to be able to compete in this event.
It was also the first outing with a new addition to the Carl Cox Motorsport team, and we are pleased to announce a partnership with Gull NZ as our preferred fuel provider for the 2014/2015 NZ Sidecar championship!
The racing across all classes was incredibly close, and the 5 sidecar races over the weekend were no exception- unfortunately we encountered a few electrical glitches which caused the bike to drop two cylinders resulting in a major power loss while in a straight out drag race with two of the other front runners in two races... a 3rd followed by a 2nd were the outcomes of the problem- but we managed to sort the problem to also gain a win and were leading the last race with a 3 second margin before the bike lost grip and spun on the second to last corner of the race!
We're absolutely excited to see what the national series will bring this summer, and even with the few problems over the Barry Sheene meeting we're very happy with 2nd place overall, and the 4th fastest time over ALL classes of racing for our first weekend back on the F1:)
