Round 2, Timaru

January 13, 2014

Our first ever weekend of racing at Timaru (Levels) has been nothing short of a whirlwind few days...

Not only was it our first time riding this track but we were surprised to be joined by our supporters Carl Cox (Carl Cox Motorsport) and Dave Hewer (Kiwibike Insurance) on practise day,who are currently on a motorcycle tour across NZ with our team manager(you kept THAT quiet Gav)

After last weekends hiccup where our engine let go, we managed to have a successful qualifying run on our spare standard motor- securing grid position #2.

Race 1 on Sat was going fantastic until a link somewhere in the fuelling missed a beat, causing the bike to stutter and resulting in a third place finish.

Sunday dawned and as we neared race time there was a announcement over the loudspeaker that a helicopter was headed in to land at the track- and as we rolled out for our warm up we see Carl,Dave and Gav passing over top!We had no idea they'd arranged to fly back from Queeenstown to support us, turn a spanner in the pits, meet the racers and experience all classes of racing on the day!

After a great start to race 2 we had an unfortunate run-off but managed to re-join the pack and reclaim 4th spot.

Everything came together for race 3! A magic start, our support team in the commentary box and managing to keep our standard engine at the front of the field until the last lap of the race, securing 2nd:)

Back on the road today but more pics/video to follow, have to say we can't help but smile after the support we've received this weekend from the NZ motorsport community, other teams and those that make it all possible for us to have days like this...

We reckon THATS racing:)

Thank you all.
A very happy US as SSR and Carl Cox Motorsport.
