Carl Cox witnesses yet more TT history with Michael Dunlop!

Carl Cox once again put his busy gigging schedule on hold, for not one but two visits, to the Isle of Man during the famous Tourist Trophy races or TT as it has become globally recognised.

As the principal sponsor of MD Racing, Michael Dunlop’s privately run team and supporting many other riders including Ian Hutchinson and Davo Johnson, Carl has more than a passing interest in the excitement that surrounds this iconic 37 and three quarter mile unforgiving piece of tarmac.

Michael duly ‘did the business’ on the track logging up another four wins to make him not only the winningest rider with 33 wins, but also attaining the most amount of podiums ever at the TT with an astonishing total of 51. As an intense competitor Michael is often very reserved at the TT but once Carl turned up, his demeanour completely changed - even though he was getting “last call to the grid” panic announcements from the organisers!

Carl got to do some spectating and was invited by BMW to do a fast closed roads X5 passenger lap of the circuit. He was also honoured to take part in both TV and podcast interviews for the series - so a busy but fun time!

Carl Cox: "I can’t get enough of The Isle of Man TT. Three weeks before the start of the year’s event I had two sidecar entries but sadly it wasn’t meant to be this year as unfortunately John Holden could not race, and neither Tim Reeves due to sponsorship issues, so I wasn't able to get behind them this year. But we’ll be back for next year I have no doubts. But what we saw of the sidecar racing this year was absolutely incredible.

This year I was able to support Aussie Davo Johnson who did really, really well out there. Seeing him come back and being there or thereabouts on the Kawasaki was incredible. He and his team were going great guns, so I was really happy to get behind them this year.

I was also behind Padgett’s Racing again, with Mitch Reeves which was incredible coming over from New Zealand, as was Davey Todd out there in Supersport and on the Paton in Supertwin. Loved seeing how well Davey is progressing into his racing this year.

But of course, the big story was my main man, Michael Dunlop. He managed to get another four TT wins, this time on Italian bikes: the Paton and the Ducati Panigale V2. I’m both happy for and proud of Michael, he did incredibly well. And to have amassed 33 TT wins is just amazing. Obviously, we didn’t get to see the Senior, but that would have been epic too. We’ll just have to wait another year to watch that one play out."
